Zopelar has become one of the leading figures in Brazil's electronic music scene, renowned for his dynamic performances and eclectic production style. A DJ, producer, and musician, Zopelar is celebrated for his ability to seamlessly blend genres, creating unique, high-energy sets that captivate audiences and showcase his wide-ranging musical influences.
His work spans house, techno, break, disco, and broken beat, all interwoven with touches of Brazilian organic music, jazz, funk, boogie, and soul.
Over the course of his 15-year career, Zopelar has earned global recognition as a music producer, with a discography that includes seven albums and numerous EPs. His tracks have been released on several respected labels, such as Apron Records (London), Clone Records (Rotterdam), and Soul Clap Records (New York), among others.
His creativity extends beyond traditional club settings, engaging in significant collaborations within the contemporary art world. His works has been featured in major institutions like the Venice Biennale (2024), Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in Rio de Janeiro and the New Museum in New York, with the original soundtracks for art installations such as “Karaiw a’e wà” and "UREIPY," by the artist “Zahy Tentehar”. In 2022, his side project “L’homme Statue” was included in the programming of the prestigious “Documenta Fifteen” in Kassel, Germany, an event that takes place once every five years. Additionally, he was one of the select global producers at the 2014 Red Bull Music Academy residency in Tokyo. Zopelar’s DJ career began in São Paulo, where he was a resident at the iconic D-EDGE club and later co-founded the ODD party. His work as a curator and DJ played a key role in shaping the city's independent party scene, with his involvement at ODD spanning nearly a decade. His shows have also graced clubs around the world, including Panorama Bar, Blitz Club, Lux Frágil, and festivals like Sónar, Dekmantel, ADE, CTM, Bahidora, Gop Tun, Whole, Nuits Sonores, DGTL, and RBMA in countries such as Japan, Chile, Australia, Belgium, England, Poland, and Mexico.
In 2025, Zopelar is gearing up to release a series of EPs and collaborations, alongside a new solo album to be announced soon. He is also working on a new live project in collaboration with German musician Retromigration, which debuted at ADE in 2024 and will be touring across Europe this summer. With an ever-expanding portfolio and a reputation for pushing musical boundaries, Zopelar remains at the forefront of innovation, both on and off the dancefloor.
